You need to have this in your collection because when this band step up onto the bigger stages, you'll want to be there with your soul already nuclear.

Wasn't it the Eagles who sang "you can't hide your Lionize" (cue the groans... I know, I know). All joking aside, there's no hiding the fact that this new album should rightly be regarded as a Rock classic and one which will catapult this band to the next level.

Carrying on from their highly praised 2014 album 'Jetpack Soundtrack', Lionize continue to mature their sound to bring to us an introspective and emotional journey through a fusion of Rock, Blues, Funk and Soul.

'Darkest Timeline' starts us off with Chris Brooks' Hammond Organ intro, and you'd be right in thinking that one of this band's influences are Deep Purple – it's there for all to hear. This track Rocks and along with its catchy chorus sets us up for what is to come. 'Face Of Mars' and further on 'Election Year' both bring out the heavy Funk and have a Living Colour groove to them which is no bad thing in my book.

Lionize have toured extensively with fellow Maryland Rockers Clutch and this has obviously rubbed off on them, particularly on 'Power Grid Blues', and it comes as no surprise that the album has been co-produced by Clutch skins-man Jean-Paul Glaster.

'Ain't It A Shame' and 'Let You Down' have a wonderful Bluesy soul to them and they showcase Nate Bergman's voice to perfection. 'March Of The Clones' is going be a great live song, its foot-tapping groove sets up for a gradual speeding up near the end of the song leading to a climatic finish.

Any song with the title 'The Mad Scientist Of Sunshine' has got to be worth listening to, but it is, in fact, a short instrumental piece which is used as an intro to the title track. I don't want to give away any spoilers on this one, you need to discover it on your own, but said title track is stunning.

Closer 'Blindness To Danger', which bassist Henry Upton comments is about "following your instincts and running headlong into the unknown", has a Rocking and a Rolling Hammond and guitar riff running through it and is a perfect leadoff single.

You need to have this in your record/CD/digital download (delete where applicable) collection because when this band step up onto the bigger stages, you'll want to be there with your soul already nuclear.
