An eclectic mix of Classic Rock, AOR and funky Blues.

The press release for this album says their message is simple – "We are Electric Ducks and we play Rock 'n' Roll". Simple that description may be, but they are being very modest, for this is far more than that. This is something special. After all, when a band cites their influences as ranging from AC/DC (they were once an AC/DC covers band!), Led Zeppelin, The Who and Deep Purple through to Chickenfoot, U2 and Bruno Mars, and then on to James Brown, Stevie Wonder and Donny Hathaway, you know you're in for a treat.

The spectacular 'Good Time In The City' opens gently, delicate guitar work and beautiful harmonies then burst into life; there's some Zeppelin, some INXS and a sing-along "oh-oh-oh" chorus – it's all rather wonderful. 'Something In Your Eyes' throws an early U2 curve ball at you, but settles into radio-friendly Rock. It's light and airy, if a little repetitive lyrically, but Constans Guilhem sings it with feeling, and that continues into the Poppier 'Odd Hours'.

'Drag A Confession' is a beautiful love song that Guilhem sings with a fragility (yet power) usually reserved for Adam Levine – just adorable, heart-rending in fact – and while you're trying to recover from that, in stomps 'The Plan', it's funkier and bluesy in a Humble Pie mould, and features the most splendid Chrystal Leigh (that'll have you running down a Spotify wormhole!). 'Safe Place' is another slow burner that starts poorly, with that repetitive lyric thing again, but perks up midway into classic AOR, something also recognisable in power ballad 'The Fall', the Foreigner-like 'Who Belongs To My World' and main closer 'Anger'.

An eclectic mix of Classic Rock, AOR and funky Blues, with 'Charming Man' even adding a gritty and raw punkier element just to be sure. This is quite a chocolate box indeed, so whether it needed the three additional radio edits of 'Something In...', 'Odd Hours' and 'Safe Place' I'm not sure, but you get them anyway. My suggestion is to buy 'Change Your Mind' and simply stuff your face!
