Lou Siffer and The Howling Demons - 'At Your Service'

A short blast of rip-roaring good fun.

Do you like to get your rabble roused? Well if you do, Sweden's (other countries are available...) Lou Siffer And The Howling Demons could be the very people to do it for you. Unsurprisingly, with a moniker like that, this bunch are straight down the middle, bike ridin', whisky snortin' Metalheads who gather up a whole lot of Corrosions Of Conformity, The Almighty and Volbeat tricks into their bag and consistently pull out a familiar, if razor toothed, rabbit from it. You know you've seen this party piece countless times before and yet you still wonder how it's done and applaud at the end - and so it is here.

Pretending that 'Train To Hell', 'Gasoline Queen', 'Before The Song Is Sung' or 'The Devil's Hearse' are anything other than what they are isn't what this bottle smashin', girlfriend nabbin', party startin' gang is about. Why masquerade as refined when rough, ready and extremely willing works so well?

K. Oz is a singer from the Glenn Danzig meets Ricky Warwick mould, where it's passion over precision which makes the results as compelling as they are, while the mightiest weapon LSATHD wield is their twin axe attack that roars with energy, both Kahn Ibbal and Gil Yotin are better than your average banjo slingers. Combined it all and it makes for loud as hell, damn good, fun album and while there have been an untold number of bands in this style over the years, Lou Siffer and his mates can genuinely stand shoulder to shoulder with the best of them.

'At Your Service' isn't an album that going to change your world, or, truth be told, carry The Howling Demons to world domination but as a short blast of rip-roaring good fun I defy you not to get completely swept up in its gritty charms.
