It's Alive - 'Human Resources'
HotA more than passable offering in a genre that has become short of new blood in recent times.
After making their name signing a string of alternative hard rock bands in the nineties-Creed being the biggest-Wind-up went after the changing mainstream, evolving into a more diverse label that saw alternative rock replaced with dance rock and indie rock.
Odd then that in 2010 they should sign a band that has more in common with the distant past. This album could easily have come from the labels nineties roster; fat rock riffs of the post grunge era combining with lower register vocals and the familiar melodies. Possibly the success of the Creed reunion has persuaded Wind-Up to revisit the music that made the label.
When all’s said and done ‘Human Resources’ is a more than passable offering in a genre that has become short of new blood in recent times. Thudding anthems like ‘The Bottom’, the hooky single ‘Pieces’ and the excellent ‘Refuge From The Wreckage’ show that if done with enough panache and good tunes to boot, there’s plenty of life left in the genre.
