Stan Bush - 'Change The World'

Stan Bush deserves to be an AOR giant with this release.

The music of Stan Bush has been with us for over thirty years now and in that time the singer/songwriter's creations have gained him an Emmy, been used at the Olympics and have featured on numerous video games and film soundtracks including, most famously, 'Transformers – The Movie'.

This album, Bush's thirteenth, pulls in eight new tracks and re-works four familiar outings. The title track opens proceedings and straight away oozes AOR goodness with a familiar Foreigner-esque flavour. 'Warrior' arrives next and is the first of the re-worked offerings, think 'Eye Of The Tiger' with added synth padding and you'll have the gist of this track that's lifted from the 'Shadow Warrior 2' video game.

New song 'Born To Win' is an energetic, feel good anthem proving Bush is still a master melody writer. It's then back to the re-works again and 'Never Surrender', taken from the 1989 film 'Kickboxer', has a real eighties FM feel with slick solos and a great hook. Bush is also an adept ballad writer, and this is evidently displayed in the form of 'The Story Of Love' which tugs at the heart strings in a Richard Marx style production.

Bush's voice is as strong as ever, gliding from a gentle, breathy serenade through to all-out Rock maestro with ease, while Holger Fath's guitar, bass and keyboard mastery along with Tom Walsh on drums make this trio a rock-solid outfit.

'Live Your Dream', 'Break These Chains' and 'The Other Side Of Love' with its Aerosmith-tinged styling all ooze Melodic Rock class, and together with album closer 'The Secret' are perhaps some of his strongest material yet.

Also found towards the end of the album are 'Dare' and 'The Touch', both of which featured on the first animated 'Transformers' movie soundtrack from 1986 and have been re-worked for this album. They are both classic tracks from the eighties era when a big movie had equally big music – Pop Rock at its best.

The eleven tracks found on 'Change The World', both old and new, all carry the Bush passion, emotion and enthusiasm that makes them sparkle. Every song is commercial and radio-friendly, but make no mistake, Stan Bush deserves to be an AOR giant with this release.
