Glass Spires - 'Glass Spires'
HotHailing from Madrid in Spain, Glass Spires like to tip their hat in the direction of melodic and power rock with more that a few hints of “Symphony X” all mish mashed together to give us eleven impressively produced and constructed songs, of which three tracks are in and around the eight minute mark. Opening track “Blood Perversion” races along and shows a statement of intent for what is to follow. “Carry Our Hearts Together” is the mushy power ballad that is I am afraid to say I have heard a million times before. Instrumental song “El Dilema” is such a complex piece of work with more time changes than Russia and just left me scratching my head and feeling bamboozled. This debut album should make them many new fans and rightly so, as it’s a technically superb advert for the 5 talented guys and also containing some enjoyable songs along the way, but playing it from start to finish just left me feeling knackered. Time for a cup of tea and a bit of “Twisted Sister”.
