Rush - 'Working Men (Live)'
HotA Rocktopia user review by Speed Hicks.
Many people including myself presumed that the career of Canada’s finest export had come
to an end after stickman’s “Neal Peart’s” double personal tragedy in 97/98 with many years of
Neal not picking up a drum stick it was announced in 2002 that the group was releasing a
fresh batch of studio material and as they say the rest is history with a relentless promotion
of all things “Rush”…. 2 best offs, 1 EP, 2 Live CDs, 4 Live DVDs, and another studio album
2007s “Snakes and Arrows”. Which leads nicely on to this recently released “Best of” live,
which culls various recordings from the live releases, for the curious first time buyer this is a
good place to get your first impression of the group playing live, if on the other hand you are
a collector of all things “rush” then the only thing on here to tempt you is an unreleased recording
of “One Little Victory”. All the classics are on here “Limelight”, “Tom Sawyer”, “Freewill”
and a crazy version of “YYZ” where the crowd is all but drowning out the group. There is a
visual companion to accompany this CD but if you own all the live DVDs then it’s pointless as
you have seen it all already.
