Crunch - 'Starting Over ... Live at Firefest'
HotA Rocktopia user review written by Speedy Hicks.
There’s a saying where “less is more”, and this is evident with this the latest release from those nice folks
at Firefest /Fireworks what you get is the full show from Crunch at their triumphant 2007 appearance at
Firefest Nottingham, and an informal interview with Steve Price and the group backstage which explains
to the viewers how the band came about and the transition from the wonderful “Adrian Gale” to what we
now know as “Crunch”. Like all the DVDs released from the festival you get 5 or 6 camera angles and a
top notch sound quality, you get exactly what is says on the tin. No hidden extras or codes to access secret
music vaults, just the gig in glorious colour and lots of close ups. The first thing that I noticed when I pressed
play was that I was dribbling into my spag bog as “Vic Rivera and Eddie Campbell” are just mind blowing
and command everyone’s full attention. “No More Chances” is huge as usual and judging by the smiles
onstage the group were enjoying themselves with plenty of banter and larking about. “Faith” and “Starting
Over” are worth the purchase of this DVD alone with nice guy “Jamie Rowe” proving himself as a good front
man and getting the crowd involved from the off. When I ordered my copy I didn’t realise it came with a free
3 track cd which I believe is pretty limited. So all in all when you next buy a DVD that was recorded on 200+
cameras (creed) and more extras than a Hollywood blockbuster avoid like the plague and get a recording of
how it actually happened on the day.
